START provides personalised support and recovery package for people with mental health problems. Our creative approach helps our beneficiaries build confidence, resilience and self esteem. We help reconnect and integrate mental health sufferers with their communities, providing pathways into training, employment, volunteering and leisure pursuits.
Our innovative range of services are directed to improving and enhancing the quality of life, health, wellbeing and social integration of target groups within the local community, in particular older people, young people and people who are, or maybe at risk of experiencing mental health difficulties or social exclusion. START runs projects both from our central base and out in the local community, supporting almost 1,000 people every year.
The Inspiring Minds Programme provides weekly 2-hour creative sessions in a number of mediums. Professional Artists lead each group and participants are encouraged to consider themselves as aspiring artists when they join the organisation rather than mental health service users. This encourages people to look forward to learning new skill and to be proud of achievements.
